About the Artwork

The Valentich Disappearance: a tribute to the transmundane in the Australian landscape The Valentich Disappearance occurred on 21st October 1978, when 20-year-old Australian aviator and flying saucer enthusiast Frederick Valentich vanished while piloting his small aircraft to King Island. He reported to air traffic control that an unknown flying object was accompanying him. Valentich radioed: "It's not an aircraft…” His transmission was then interrupted by an unidentified noise before all contact was lost. He was never found.
