About the Artwork
There’s a collection of images on my desk of a particular Southern Tasmanian coastline, a place I love. The photographs promise the impossible. To capture feeling, the dissonance of light and dark, the vibrancy of evening disappearing. In painting, this work became an assemblage of atmospheres. Contemplations on the intangible dimensions of my reflections, where mood and memory play a part, where logic lets land folds connect to clouds, where water holds an edge, and where the subtle gradients of sky hint at the stretching of time.

About the Artist
Michaye Boulter is a Hobart-based painter whose landscapes, though undeniably Tasmanian, have a universal quality. She conjures and clarifies the elusive emotions of her experience, dissolving the sense that we are separable from our surroundings.
Her work is held in various public and private collections throughout Australia,
including the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and Parliament House, Canberra.
