About the Artwork

My paintings of the Norfolk Plains come from a deep familiarity with the land and its quiet rhythms. I’m drawn to its open expanses, the subtle shifts of light, and the way memory settles into the landscape. Rather than documenting it directly, I try to distil an emotional truth —something felt rather than seen. The plains become a space where observation and imagination meet, where colour and form carry a sense of stillness and unease. Through repetition and variation, I return to these motifs, searching for clarity, allowing each painting to hover between recognition and abstraction, grounded yet slightly displaced.

About the Artist

I am a contemporary Tasmanian painter whose work is deeply connected to the landscapes of Northern Tasmania. Drawing inspiration from the Norfolk Plains, river systems, and farming country, I create atmospheric paintings that reflect a strong sense of place. My painting style combines lyrical colour, simplified forms, and a poetic appreciation of the Tasmanian landscape.
