About the Artwork

This painting draws on a recent trip to Western Australia. Raised in Arizona, the desert has always felt like home and since moving to Australia my connection to these landscapes has deepened. In recent years, I have undertaken intensive healing. Time spent in the Australian outback has been integral to reconnecting with myself and recovering parts that felt fractured and silenced. The desert is reimagined here as a site of personal exploration, not emptiness, but a place of transformation, resilience, and survival that reflects my own experience.
