About the Artwork

Log it! Is a love letter to the chaotic beauty of the natural world, capturing the untouched environment of Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest. Inspired by the grand depictions of nature by Romantic artists such as John Constable, alongside contemporary influences including Harold Thornton’s portrait of Dr Bob Brown, Log it! aims to convey the immersive experience of a tropical rainforest where colour, texture, temperature, moisture and scent overwhelm the senses. It reminds viewers of the rainforest’s diverse and irreplaceable details - elements of nature that are beautiful and fragile, and increasingly at risk of being lost.
